Drawing inspiration from annual Ag Day events held throughout the United States, the Eden Area (unincorporated communities of Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, Fairview, and San Lorenzo) will host our very first Ag Day event. Eden Area Ag Day will educate local third-grade students about the rich history and future of agriculture in our community.
This event will:
-Include hands-on interactive demonstrations
-Showcase local farmers (rural and urban), ranchers, and ag-related groups
-Present the variety of career pathways in agriculture and how they relate to the S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields
-Provide teachers with sample curriculum packets to further ag education in the classroom beyond this event.
Our goal is for students to be exposed to the possibilities of agriculture and become inspired to learn more about growing food, nutrition, and honoring our local history.
Goals of Ag Day
- Encourage students to appreciate the unique history and evolution of agriculture and ranching in the region
-Highlight local ranching, food production, growing, and processing
-Share knowledge across generations by teaching students do-it-yourself projects that can be conducted at home with their families

How can you support Eden Area Ag Day?
Sponsor the event- Whether monetary or in-kind, your contribution to Ag Day is much appreciated. A lot of support is needed to provide students with a day of fun, hands-on experiences in ag.
Join us as an exhibitor- Are you a local farmer, rancher, or ag-related businessperson? We'd loe to have you as an exhibitor. If you have an animal to display, are knowledgeable about local ag history, or have a skill set you'd like kids to learn more about, please let us know!
Volunteer- We are in need of guides to lead classes throughout the event on October 6th. We would love for you or your group to join us as a volunteer guide.
Serve on our Planning Committee- There are many tasks to get done to ensure that the first-ever Eden Area Ag Day is a success! Share your time and skills as part of the Planning Committee.
