Did you know that there are over 35 service organizations in our Chamber of Commerce? Most of these members rely on volunteers to reach out and improve the areas of Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland and San Lorenzo. There are volunteer spots waiting to be filled that may be right for you.

This Holiday Season at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts

It was seven years in the making, but Sunday (November 11, 2012) saw a new veteran's memorial being dedicated in the East Bay.

More than a thousand people gathered at a Castro Valley Park Sunday for the dedication ceremony of a new veteran's memorial, which was a project the local post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 9601) started planning seven years ago.

First Relay for Life

Saturday - Sunday, Aug. 11-12, 2012

At Arroyo High School Starting at 9 a.m.!

Join the San Lorenzo/Ashland/Cherryland Community as it hosts its very first Relay for Life on Saturday - Sunday, August 11th and 12th at the Arroyo High School track. Individuals, participants and their team members walk the track for 24 hours because "cancer never sleeps." The event will kick off at 9 a.m. with public officials, guest speakers and a lap that will pay tribute to all the survivors in our community who are still fighting and/or surviving cancer. This will be followed by a day filled with individual teams raising funds and awareness for a variety of types of cancer; there will be activities, music, entertainment, themed "laps" and more!

At dusk the track is lit with luminary bags which are decorated and commemorate relatives, friends and family members who have been lost, are surviving or have been affected by this disease.

Got your own classic beautiy to show off, or know someone who does? Saturday, September 8th is the day to bring 'er out to the masses! Located once again this year in the Castro Valley BART parking lot alongside the Farmer's Market and conveniently across the street from the Fall Festival, this event makes car buffs out of all of us! The Castro Valley Car Show is proud to support the Eden Area ROP Automotive, Culinary, and Criminal Justice High School programs.
