The History Awards, the annual gala hosted by the Hayward Area Historical Society (HAHS) to recognize individuals and organizations whose efforts preserve and nurture the vibrant past of the Greater Hayward community, was presented at Stonebrae Country Club on April 26. The celebration began at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and sweeping sunset views of the bay. This year, five recipients were selected and were be honored at the event.

Hill’s Veterinary Hospital is celebrating its 26th Anniversary this May since opening its doors in Castro Valley. Dr. Robert A. Hill started practicing medicine in Castro Valley in 1980, before opening his own practice on Redwood Road in 1987. In addition to his practice, he has given back to the community through career talks at local elementary and middle schools, Career Night Presenter at Castro Valley High School, supports Vannoy Elementary Cougarthon fund raiser, supports local Fix our Feral Spay/Neuter clinics, and encourages cat and dog adoptions by offering free wellness exams to pets adopted through humane societies, shelters, and rescue groups anywhere in the U.S.
